Running a mandir properly takes time, dedication, devotion and also money. We are a fiscally responsible temple, run by volunteers and treat the donations made by our devotees with great care.
We are supported entirely by volunteers and generous donations from people like you – devotees who love MAA, share our vision, and want to receive Her blessings and share them with others. Whether you are able to join us physically or not, you can be a part of our mandir family simply by making a donation to our community, or by volunteering your time and energy, or both.
We give our services free of charge to those who are facing financial difficulty in order to make our mandir accessible to all, and we simply ask that each person give as much as they can comfortably offer to help us cover our costs of operation. All donations large and small are gratefully accepted. We are able to continue to offer our services because of the continued generosity of devotees near and far.
By making a donation, you are supporting the daily ritual workings (nitya puja) of the mandir, our special events, and other important projects. Help by contributing to any of our ongoing needs:
- Murti Fund. We plan to commission new 12-18″ murtis of the Mahavidyas to reflect the specific forms worshipped at Kamakhya, which will cost $600-1000 each, to be created by skilled artists in India. In addition we would like to create a large murti of Kamakhya Devi, which will cost up to $3000. Sponsor all or part of a particular Devi, or contribute generally to the whole project.
- Travel Fund. We would like to bring Sri Jadu Nath Sarma and gurus Kamala Ranjan Bhattacharyya and Sadhan Bhattacharyya to the United States to formally bless the temple and devotees here, provide lectures and teachings, and perform pujas and house blessings for local devotees. You may also donate to the travel fund to cover the cost of Acharyya Kulasundari Devi’s pilgrimage to Kamakhya to offer blessings for devotees there:
- Frequent Flyer Miles (100,000-140,000 per ticket)
- Airline ticket sponsorship ($1200 x 3)
- Sponsorship of room & board ($3000)
- Puja Fund. We do our best to keep the costs of daily puja low, but flowers, fruits, bhog, ghee, oil, sindoor, incense, lamp wicks, and other such perishable items are expensive over time, as are the ritual implements we must purchase from time to time. Donate to the puja fund to help keep daily worship going.
- Distance Education Fund. Donations to set up online broadcasting capabilities for free live pujas, virtual sangha, and classes, and to help with the production of podcasts and videos.
- Building Fund. Our temple is currently in the home of Kulasundari Devi, but we would like to move the temple to its own permanent home. We are accepting donations of financial grants, land grants, and so forth to create a permanent home for the deities as well as an ashram for devotees.
- Administrative Costs. Our board and staff are all volunteers, and so our administrative costs are low. However, we do have costs for paper, printing, government filing fees, web hosting, and so forth.
You may also make a donation here in advance of attending an event such as our public pujas. If you are not able to attend, we will offer blessings for you in absentia. Donors of over $101 for our puja fund will be sent flowers, sindoor, and rakta bastra (while supplies last) from our regular elaborate puja.
According to tradition, making a donation brings the blessings of the worship performed to you and your family directly. You can make a one-time donation, or you can make a sustaining monthly gift, which will be billed automatically to your credit card. A monthly gift subscription helps to ensure long-term security for our temple, provides for the daily puja, as well as the projects we have shown above.
Choose the option that is right for you. If you would like to make a sustaining gift that will automatically donate a specific amount each month from your credit or check card, please contact us.
If you would like to sponsor a regular puja or request a puja to be performed for you, please include your full name, your gotra and nakshatra (if known), date, time, and place of birth (if known), and current location.
